What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening can be performed in a variety of different ways. We use a very safe prescription grade whitening compound that was developed with extensive research. Whitening materials can remove years of stains from your teeth for a brighter more youthful smile.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes, if using the right products as they are intended to be used! The main side effect of teeth whitening is slight sensitivity to cold or hot foods. We provide our patients with anti-sensitivity trays to prevent this from occurring. Using teeth whitening trays longer than directed or whitening teeth with cavities can cause discomfort or harm to your teeth.
Does teeth whitening really work?
Absolutely! Due to differences between the composition and age of different patients’ teeth some patients have better results than others, but a high percentage of patients notice their smile as being 2-4 shades whiter after bleaching.
Over the Counter Whitening?
Be very cautious with over-the-counter whitening products. Do not use off brand products and make sure to use them as directed! Using whitening products incorrectly can cause burns, ulcers, or teeth sensitivity.
